Thank You Everyone for a Stellar Homes of Distinction Tour!

During the last weekend of the tour almost 1,000 people explored the two grand homes and enjoyed the impressive architecture, architectural details and the latest trends in construction and decorating. The weather couldn’t have been more cooperative.

The Roswell Woman’s Club thanks Thrive Homes and TL Concepts as well as the Manor Golf and Country Club for partnering with us in this charitable venture. We express our heartfelt thanks to all the designers and vendors who participated. These individuals and companies have been featured in previous Blog posts as have various vendors who created the cabinets; countertops; glass, mirrors, and shower doors; plumbing fixtures and appliances; and the garage doors.

The success of the tour wouldn’t have been assured without various news outlets getting the word out to the public including 11 Alive, Atlanta Magazine, Neighbor Newspapers, and The Current.

Buckhead Coach, as always, did an efficient job of transporting the visitors from the parking area to the homes and back. The Chandlery served as our exclusive ticket outlet.

RWC couldn’t have possibly operated a three-week tour without the tireless efforts of our Chairs Kelly Dippolito and Danyel Thompson  and our members as well as volunteers from among our scholarship applicants, representatives from the non-profit organizations supported by RWC, family, friends, neighbors, and members of the general public who all worked shifts to ensure that our visitors had a pleasurable experience.

And last but certainly not least, we thank all the patrons who attended the tour. We hope that each and every one of you came home with lots of new ideas for your own homes. We’ll update the Blog when we distribute the funds earned to high school seniors, classroom teachers, and non-profit organizations.

This is it! The LAST DAY of the Homes of Distinction Tour! You Can Still Make it.

Despite everything the weatherman could throw at us from ice and snow to 70 degrees, three weeks have flown by and thousands of visitors have flocked to the Roswell Woman’s Club Homes of Distinction Tour. These two gorgeous stone and brick Olde World-style homes were constructed by Thrive Homes in the very upscale Manor Golf and Country Club and have been tastefully and imaginatively decorated by some of the Atlanta metro area’s most noted design firms. Foremost among them are Kings Home Furnishings and Home Fashion Interiors who each took a main floor in one of the houses. Other rooms were created by AHT Allison Havill Todd Interiors, Juliet Jones Studio, Kookoo Bear Baby & Kids, Outrageous Interiors, Kaleigh Burgner, Roswell Home & Office Furniture Outlet, and Geyer interiors. As the tour is finally put to bed, here’s just a sampling of the bedrooms.

Check out the pull-out cabinets created with a variety of purposes in mind as well as the super-efficient corner cabinet in the kitchen at #3064.

Bell transforms your inspirations into reality by combining extensive design and product knowledge with installation experience into a finished product of which you’ll be justly proud.

Based in Ashland, Alabama, Wellborn Cabinets has been owned and operated by the same family since 1961. All their quality cabinets including doors, drawers, and face frames are handcrafted. Don’t miss this chance to visit these two stately houses to enjoy the innovative décor created by some of Atlanta’s finest designers. An added plus is the opportunity to gain admittance to the magnificent Manor Golf and Country Club.  The gated community usually isn’t accessible unless you are one of the fortunate few able to arrange to play golf there. Just viewing some of the splendid homes and the lavish Clubhouse complex from the outside as you enter the neighborhood and are shuttled to the tour homes is well worth the trip. The homes are situated on the 8th fairway of the Tom Watson-designed course and the ample use of windows allows unimpeded views from many rooms.

If you don’t know an RWC member from whom to buy a ticket, tickets are available online, at The Chandlery, and at the door. See details in the sidebar.

Be there! So you won’t be sorry later!

Master Bathroom at #3074

Whether it’s constructing the perfect bathrooms or simply decorating them, there are myriad opportunities to create exactly what you want. Ferguson Bath, Kitchen, and Lighting Gallery has fashioned superb bathrooms in both the gorgeous homes which are open for inspection during the Roswell Woman’s Club Homes of Distinction Tour at the Manor Golf and Country Club now through Sunday, February 23rd. A joint venture of RWC, Thrive Homes, and TL Concepts, the homes feature the very latest trends in construction and décor.

The master bathrooms in both homes, so large we joke that they could have their own zip codes, feature Cambria countertops (see the Alternatives to Traditional Countertops Blog post from February 17th) and fixtures with the Bold Look of Kohler. Oil-rubbed bronze is the trendy finish for fixtures this year and you’ll find them featured throughout the houses in the kitchens as well as the bathrooms.

Alternatives to Traditional Countertops on Display at the Roswell Woman’s Club Homes of Distinction Tour

Kitchen with Cambria countertops

Kitchen with Cambria countertops

Although they are beautiful, granite countertops require tender loving care. Now there’s a more easy-care alternative. Cambria countertops offer the beauty of granite, but the durability of quartz. The unique surface combines elegance with the hardworking performance required for everyday living. Cambria is stain resistant and nonporous, which results in a surface that is harder, safer and easier to care for than other surfaces. The color, depth, clarity and natural variation found in Cambria’s 102 designs are without equal, making it a striking enhancement to any room in the home. Cambria, headquartered in Le Sueur, Minnesota, is the only family-owned American producer of natural stone surfaces and is sold through an exclusive North American network of premium, independent specialty and retail partners such as CR Home/Atlanta Kitchen, Inc.

Outrageous Ideas at Roswell Woman’s Club Homes of Distinction Tour

porcupine console

Porcupine console in a bedroom by Outrageous Interiors

Whether it’s being decorated for a teenager or an adult, a bedroom certainly doesn’t have to be boring. Even if the primary atmosphere is subtle, one or two special pieces can add pizazz. Outrageous Interiors has used imagination and creativity to decorate one of the bedrooms in each of the two homes on tour at the Manor Golf and Country Club presented in conjunction with the Roswell Woman’s ClubThrive Homes and TL Concepts. Quirky and funky might be used to describe the bedroom at #3074. Make sure to check out the “porcupine” console—a wooden credenza with triangles of wood sticking out all over it. It appears to be a solid piece, but the doors actually open.

Proceeds from the tour will be used to fund college scholarships and classroom teacher grants, as well as donations to more than 15 non-profit organizations that provide services for North Fulton residents.

Record numbers of guests attended the tour this weekend. Be sure not to miss out. The tour will resume for the final four days this Thursday, February 20 and will run through Sunday, February 23rd. See the details about times and how to purchase tickets in the sidebar.

Designs by Kings Home Furnishings

Fireplace in Great Room

Fireplace in Great Room designed by Maxine Hyland of Kings Home Furnishings at #3074

The natural colors in the exterior stonework served as an inspiration for the décor Maxine Hyland of Kings Home Furnishings created on the main floor of house #3074. The palette of muted tans, beiges, browns, off whites, grays, and other subdued shades accented by small pops of color produce a restful and cohesive ambience in every room. Maxine wanted to create an atmosphere where the homeowners could come home after a long, hard day at work and totally relax in a serene setting. From the moment you step into the foyer and admire the Study and Dining Room until you visit the Master Bedroom Suite and then stroll through the Great Room, Kitchen/Breakfast Area, and the Keeping Room, you’ll appreciate the harmony of her vision.
